Students from a public school in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur take advantage of their new library |
Crossing the river to bring the books to one of the recipient schools |
A festive celebration welcomes AHONand the books and educational resources they bring. |
Nothing could define better the hard work and perseverance of five schools from Tagudin, Ilocos Sur than magis. To get to Ambalayat Integrated School, students and teachers have to take a raft across the river or cross the hanging bridge. Isolated, Pudoc West Integrated School is among the farthest school.
Tagudin Central School and Becques Community School lament the lack of classrooms. Libtong Community School bemoans the lack of reference books that could be used in studying and teaching.
However, blessed with the indomitable spirit, the educators do all they can to equip their students with the necessary learning tools amid the difficulties. Among the first to recognize the value of partnerships with the private sectors, Mayor Roque Versoza Jr. of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur taps Acts of Hope for the Nation (AHON) Foundation to lend a helping hand.
AHON Foundation mobilizes the entire community of parents, teachers and local officials in building the libraries. It empowers communities by letting them realize their important part in nation-building and by prompting people to action in a true bayanihan fashion. Serving as a proper incentive, AHON Foundation donates R2.5 million worth of quality, Time-Life reference books in English, Math and the Sciences to the five schools.
Thank you so much for featuring us last June 24, 2012, Manila Bulletin. Congratulations to the newest partner schools of AHON Foundation! :)
